Professor Sally Smith is Head of Graduate Apprenticeships and Skills Development and a Professor in computing. She is Director of the Centre for Higher Education Research at Edinburgh Napier and her research centers on work-based learning experiences and outcomes, particularly in the area of apprenticeships and traineeships with a focus on underrepresented groups. She recently led the “Women into Tech” project to encourage better gender balance in the tech sector and is now working with colleagues on a project designed to empower women in STEM in Indonesia. Sally leads the university’s Data Skills Gateway activity in Edinburgh and the South East Scotland Region City Deal, seeking to embed data skills across the curriculum. She is a member of the SQA Advisory Council.
